In September 2025, Adelyn, was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM), a rare autoimmune disease, after months of declining health, countless specialist appointments, and extensive testing. By the time we had answers, she was struggling with even the simplest everyday tasks—getting dressed, climbing stairs, getting herself out of bed, or standing up from the floor. Muscle inflammation and arthritis had ravaged her body, making nearly every movement painful and exhausting. Skin involvement left her with dark circles under her eyes and several rashes on her body.

As frightening as the diagnosis was, it also brought hope. Finally, we knew what we were fighting and could begin the treatments she desperately needed. After several days in the hospital, months of steroids and immunosuppressant medications, and countless hours of physical and occupational therapy, Adelyn has made an incredible turnaround. Her lab work is looking great as she finishes her steroid taper, and we are hopeful she'll be in remission within the next year. At the same time, we know there is no cure for Juvenile Myositis, and flares will always remain a possibility. Today, she's regained so much of her strength and flexibility. She's enjoying everything summer has to offer and is back to doing what she loves most—dancing.

Our family's journey has shown us just how important hope, research, and community truly are.
