I'm walking to help kids fighting juvenile myositis (JM) - a painful, rare autoimmune disease that weakens muscles, damages skin and muscles, attacks organs, and can take away simple abilities like walking, smiling, or even swallowing.

Michael was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM), a form of JM, in February of 2025 after months of unexplained muscle weakness. During that extremely scary time prior to diagnosis, he went from being a very active little boy who enjoyed running, swimming, doing push-ups, and playing football with friends, to experiencing difficulties walking, raising his arms, and even lifting himself from the floor. Our family was blessed to have a pediatrician who truly listened to our concerns, and made all the right referrals in the face of such rare symptoms. We were led to a rheumatologist within the CureJM network who was able to quickly diagnose and begin treatments for Michael that have made a world of difference in his daily life. 

There's no cure yet, but progress is happening.  Every step and every donation fuels research, supports families, and brings us closer to better treatments - and one day, a cure.

I'm joining the Walk Strong to Cure JM to raise funds for Cure JM, the only organization fully dedicated to this cause.  When we walk together, small steps create BIG change.
