For the past year and a half we struggled with whether or not to share this publicly.  But Dylan's story is bigger than us - and if sharing it helps even one family feel seen, understood, or hopeful, then it's worth telling.

At the end of summmer 2024, our lives changed overnight when Dylan was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JMD), a rare and incurable autoimmune disease that attacks the muscles and skin.  One moment, life felt normal...and the next, we were facing specialists, treatments, uncertainty, and fears no parent is ever prepared for.

We quickly learned how invisible this disease can be.  On the outside, Dylan may look like any other child, but behind the scenes are medical appointments, medications, careful monitoring, and daily challenges most people will never see.  Hearing the words "there is no cure" was devastating - but watching Dylan face it all with courage has completely redefined strength for our family.

Through every test, every adjustment, and every difficult moment, Dylan has continued to smile, push forward, and remind us what resilience truly looks like.  He is now in remission thanks to the incredible care of his medical team, something we never take for granted.  Every day moving forward is filled with hope - and determination to keep him there.

This journey has changed us forever.  It has taught us how fragile health can be, how powerful community is, and how important research and awareness truly are for families living with rare diseases.

This year we are walking in Dylan's honor - and for every child and family fighting battles that often go unseen.  We walk for answers.  We walk for awareness.  We walk for hope.  And we walk believing that one day, there will be a cure.

If Dylan's story moves you, we would be deeply grateful for your support in helping fund research and bring hope to families like ours.
