Four years ago, our world changed when Mackenzie was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM)—a rare and painful autoimmune disease that weakens muscles, attacks the skin and organs, and steals away things most kids never have to think twice about. Since then, she has faced more hospital visits, labs, infusions, medications, and tough days than any child ever should.
But through it all, Mackenzie shows strength, joy, and determination, even on the days when her body makes simple things—walking, climbing stairs, lifting her arms, or just being a kid—so much harder.
There’s still no cure, and she remains on a full treatment regimen. Yet progress is happening, and your support helps push that progress forward.
I’m walking in the Walk Strong to Cure JM for Mackenzie—not just to raise funds, but to raise hope for her future and the futures of every child fighting this disease.
